I can relate to her in most ways, so I personally feel Jessica did a phenomenal job. If you’re not bipolar or have mental health issues that require medication, then you will see a choppy, too dramatic, or trying too hard Jessica Lange. Yes, Bipolar people switch personalities fast. It’s that intense, tgg heat one will think “ they’re faking or trying to put on an act”.

The only thing I don’t like and wish medical science and the psychological aspect of bipolar, is that not everyone goes out and and has impulsive sexual behavior or has affairs. I was very disturbed because impulsive infidelity is one of the red flags that the Psychological Science has placed as a criteria when diagnosing people. I honestly feel it should be eliminated because people that are not mentally ill have affairs often. It took my Psychiatrist a year before I received proper diagnosis. Took them a while because, I didn’t fit the erratic and impulsive sexual behavior. Meryl Streep - Was expecting the worst, but took me by surprise on an emotional and technical level. She makes it look so easy and the film moves on broad strokes, but she thrilled me.
2. Annette Bening - Brings on A-game on a role that doesn't give her much (screentime, depth). She's fun to watch, she's ferocious and vulnerable, but would have been a disappointingly thin winner.
3. Hilary Swank - Memory fades (haven't seen it in like seven years), but I remember not feeling much for this despite being aware of the difficulty of the role. Haunting, but something didn't click.

I'm excited for 2004. :)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37163585.post-27767918907607781042017-03-28T16:34:33.633-07:002017-03-28T16:34:33.633-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Deinerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15035374932571808047noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-37163585.post-54172567804211795672017-03-13T04:28:42.551-07:002017-03-13T04:28:42.551-07:00Was hard for me to predict what I'd like befor...Was hard for me to predict what I'd like before seeing them, as I hadn't watched Bancroft. I don't know that I understand your comment about her lack of warmth, because I think the specific chapter in her life that the film tackles is supposed to display a colder, detached side to her. In any case, I'm just mind-boggled that you didn't like her, but let's agree to disagree!

My thoughts on Isabelle and Ruth are pretty much the same as yours, and I'd probably rate Emma a little higher. Doubt.

Unlike Girl on the Train, which I found stupid but very watchable, I hated Jackie (the scene alone at the ending after the funeral when she drives by a store front and sees in the window dresses and mannequins copying her style, so on the nose and dumb and as if the real Jackie would give a fuck after burying her husband - would be enough of a clue how awful and pretentious it all is. And Natalie plays the film's tune.
